Pier? Beach? Monciak? Spa house? In these emblematic places of Sopot you will, of course, find many charming views, atmospheres and shots. However, we suggest other, at least equally good and less obvious "spots".
Romantic alley, wild path
Every year, autumn creates a landscape on the Bay of Gdańsk, perfect for stylized photos. Parks stand out in this respect, as their alleys can serve as an ideal entourage. When spending time in Sopot at the end of the year, it is worth visiting the Northern Park, located in the immediate vicinity of the tourist center of the resort. The area stretches for two kilometers, starting from the Grand Hotel to the unregulated forest stream Swelina, which is the natural border between Sopot and Gdynia. The park is divided into two parts: the one closer to Monciak enchants with old trees, well-kept promenades, benches and sculptures, including a monument to Jan Jerzy Haffner, the historical founder of the spa (he willingly poses for photos). In turn, the northern part of... the Northern Park... is decorated with rather wild, forest nature, especially charming in autumn.
Illuminated bridge and old manor house
It's a good idea to end your walk around Lower Sopot on the picturesque bridge over the gorge. prof. Stefan Herman, which is one of the most photogenic (though little known to tourists) places in Sopot. The facility was modernized a few years ago, and after dark it is illuminated, which creates an additional impression. And since fate has already brought you here, take a few more steps to ul. Czyżewskiego, where there is a beautiful and intimate, classicist Sierakowski Manor House, the oldest of the fully preserved monuments of Sopot. Currently, it is the seat of the Society of Friends of Sopot, where literary meetings, concerts and exhibitions are held. Such a place is the quintessence of good taste!
Up for architecture
Another nice destination for an Instagram stroll may be Upper Sopot, i.e. the part of the resort located on the higher side of al. Independence. This is definitely a quieter part of Sopot, you can even get the impression that time has stopped here - to the great benefit of the landscape. You will find beautiful, stately villas here, many of which were built when the city was called Zoppot.
The relaxing silence creates a specific atmosphere, especially in autumn, when the foggy streets create the impression of a film set. Wandering through the streets of Abrahama, Mickiewicza, Armii Krajowej and Wybicki will certainly provide you with a lot of aesthetic experiences and opportunities to catch photographic gems.
Behind film and sports stars
In autumn, Sopot's nightlife does not die down. The difference compared to summer is that we meet more locals in pubs and clubs, which makes the atmosphere different, one might even say more authentic. In this context, we recommend the legendary SPATiF (Association of Polish Theater and Film Artists), a meeting place for the Tricity bohemia, located in the heart of the resort, at ul. Bohaterów Monte Cassino 54. The place is famous for a lot of historical anecdotes (legends of Polish film and stage danced here), but also for fancy events taking place every weekend. A spontaneous selfie from a visit to SPATiF is a real "must-have" for visitors to the Tricity in autumn.
You must also know that Sopot has been proudly promoting itself as a city of sports for many years and there is no exaggeration in this. The latest example - the Polish basketball championship won by Trefl players was recently celebrated in the resort. Their success gave them the right to play in the prestigious EuroCup competition, which means that renowned teams from all over Europe, including former NBA players, will come to the Ergo Arena throughout the fall. When you come to the seaside, make sure you don't come across an interesting match, after which you might get a photo with the basketball star!
